Sherry Bushnell, LM, CPM –  I am a wife, mother, and midwife.  Working with women of all ages has been a joy for me since my own first days of pregnancy 28 years ago. As a midwife, I can relate to young mothers who are pregnant with their first baby, and older moms having children in their 40’s too. Birth options are abundant, so let’s get together to find out what works best for you.

Living in Northern Idaho for over 12 years, I am happily married to my supportive husband, Tom. I have had 9 birth children.  Each experience is unique, complete with individual challenges and joys. I have had 1 hospital birth with nurse midwives, 1 birth center birth, and 7 midwife facilitated home births. In addition, we adopted 3 children with special needs when they were babies, who are now in their 20’s.  We have one grandbaby!    I have been working with women who are pregnant and giving birth for over 20 years.

I became a Certified Professional Midwife in 2008, (# 09010003), through The Association of Texas Midwifery, in Midland, Texas. At Newlife Mercy Maternity Center in Davao, Philippines, the Summer of 2007, I worked with a variety of women giving birth.  I am a licensed midwife in the state of Texas #99072.    I am a licensed midwife in the state of Idaho, MID #7, certified in pharmacology, IV/Shock therapy and suturing.    I am a licensed midwife in the state of Montana, license #46.

Currently I am practicing in Idaho and Montana as a midwife, and owner of Lavender & Roses Birth and Mothering Center in Libby, Montana.  I have attended over 200 births to date.  I maintain a current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation and CPR at all times.

My philosophy regarding natural birth and parenting:  God created women to have children with joy.  Labor, although a lot of hard work and pain for some women, can still be an incredible expereince that is richly full of happy memories.  My goal is to help you become the best mama you can be.  Starting with those first few weeks of pregnancy, helping you through labor as your “lifegard” as you give birth to your baby, and being around as source of helpas you begin the first few months of parenting.

As a mother myself, I loved breastfeeding, learned a lot through my pregnancies with my own midwives and was inspired with each relationship.  They have passed the torch onto me, and I am now giving of the wisdom I have learned with my beautiful birth experiences  (sometimes very difficult ones).  May the Lord of Birth give you grace to eat carefully, nourishing your baby, and labor with love, giving birth without fear.
